Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS)

The University Libraries are now subscribing to the electronic full text version of the Springer book series Lecture Notes in Computer Science. The series includes the "sub-series" Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) and Lecture Notes in Bioinformatics (LNBI).

Coverage varies for the sub-series (for LNBI it is 2003 onwards); for the series as a whole it is generally 1997 to the present.

Major areas covered include computer science, engineering, math, biology, statistics, GIS, information science, informatics, communication science, physics, bioinformatics, multimedia, and medical imaging, and includes research topics such as combinatorial libraries and drug design and computational proteomics.

Updated Properties Guide

The Finding Properties for Chemicals & Other Materials guide was recently updated. The guide provides information on print and electronic sources for properties data (chemical, physical, mechanical, environmental, toxicological, etc.) for a wide variety of materials (including biomaterials).

Some of the major additions include a new link under "Metals & Alloys" to the ASM Online Handbooks.

Under the category "Polymers & Plastics," a hot-link has been set to the online version of The Polymer Handbook in Knovel.

Under "Other Materials," I have added a new entry to The Handbook of Biomaterial Properties, which we can also now access online through our Knovel subscription. This handbook provides materials data for both implantable biomaterials and natural tissues, organs, and fluids.

Finally, a new category called "Semiconductors" has been added that lists and links to the online versions of a number of titles in the INSPEC EMIS Datareview Series that are available in Knovel.
